World Erotic Art Museum

Just in time for holiday visitors, Naomi Wilzig has the World Erotic Art Museum ready to go at her trendy location in South Beach, Miami, FL. Finally realizing the fruits of over 13 years of labor, Wilzig, 70, has amassed over 4,000 pieces that include items from all over the world.

"I have a sexual version of almost every type of object you can imagine," said Wilzig. "I go for the more explicit pieces."

You can visit the museam in it's second story space at 1205 Washington Ave and take a journey throughout history to examine our fascination with the erotic.

The earliest pieces, oil lamps with worn carvings of entwined bodies, reach back to 100 BC. From there, the collection ranges from kitsch to high culture. A wall tapestry depicts Leda and the Swan, a mythological saga of seduction. Anatomically correct Foo dogs guard the Asian room, where 1,000-year-old jade sex toys and delicate ivory figurines nestle in rows of lighted cabinets. Demure Art Deco nudes and naughty turn-of-the century French engravings luxuriate on cream-coloured walls.
