Kelly Crislip wanted to be available to volunteer at her children's school. So she started a home-based party business, WhisPur.

Unlike Tupperware and Amway, Mrs. Crislip's products have a very specific niche - married women and those in long-term relationships. She sells adult sex toys which she stores in her basement.

"I'm not embarrassed or have moral issues with what I do," Mrs. Crislip said. "It's not just about sex. It's about romance, and knowing yourself and your body and your partners.'

"She estimates that nearly all of her customers are women age 25 to 50. They, tocan order online. But Mrs. Crislip also does home parties, and has independent contractors doing the same.

"I started it two years ago because I got tired of working for other people and making them lots of money," she said.

Last year, WhisPur turned a profit.
